Share A Real Hair Loss Story

March 31, 2020 Hair Loss Views: 2283

Hello! My name is Rayann, Ray for short! and Im a 30 year old mama to a sassy little one year old. I began losing my hair when I was 13 years old (you would think I had come to terms with it by now).

Growing up I was just like any other girl, I thought a lot about my wedding day. What venue we'd choose what my dress would look like... how i'd wear my hair.... but unlike most girls my age I had the thought of "would I even have hair by the time I get married"? Flash forward to 2017 which was when I bought my first wig... specifically for my wedding day. Thankfully I still had hair of my own but let's be real it was not nearly enough to do anything with so I researched my booty off and finally came across a wig shop I cannot tell you how thankful I am for the beautiful hair I was able to have for the most important day of my life. I will forever look back on these photos and feel absolutely beautiful.

hair loss story with hair loss

Sometimes I feel like a total fake while wearing hair! I hate that i feel this way but it makes me feel like i'm lying... like i'm not really as pretty without the hair! I'm hoping the more I wear hair the less I will feel that way. But for now this is just a little glimpse into how hair loss can really crush your self esteem.

Hair loss has literally halted my life in so many ways! One of the biggest things I can think of is it stopped me from having a birthing photographer when I had my daughter because I didn't want photos taken of me without my wig. It also almost stopped me from having the wedding of my dreams! Thankfully I took the plunge and bought a wig a couple of months before our big day! Then there are the countless little things it has stopped me from doing like riding in a car with the windows down, going on vacations with my girlfriends (who didn't know about my hair loss) and of course the river, beach and swimming events that I would always make an excuse to miss! Guys I am literally SO OVER my hair loss preventing me from enjoying life! Life is too short to be anything but happy and this is my promise to myself that this summer i'm going to say F*CK IT and enjoy the pool/beach with my daughter because she deserves a mom that is going to have fun with her no matter what!!! My hair loss is no longer going to stop me from being me!
